About Manipal

Manipal is a suburb or an International University Town, within Udupi district. Located 5 kilometers from Udupi city, Manipal is situated in Southwest India, about 10 kms from the Arabian Sea. Located on a plateau and nestled between the Western Ghats on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west, Manipal commands a panoramic view with abundant flora and fauna. Rural farmlands, cascading hills and inland waterways add to the picturesque surroundings of Manipal providing the right atmosphere for studies and research. You can find more about Manipal here

Reaching Manipal

Manipal is well connected by air, rail and road. There are two main cities close to Manipal that serve as entry points – Udupi and Mangalore, which are 5 Km and 65 Km away from Manipal, respectively. Visiting Manipal would be convenient by Road as Manipal is very well connected by road to Udupi and Mangaluru, two important transport hubs in the region. If you cannot find a bus to Udupi, you may take a Bus to Mangaluru and there are several busses between 6 am to 9 pm to and fro. From Udupi, there are several more busses with the local buses and Mangalore-Manipal buses plying via Udupi.

By Train:

Udupi station (UD / UDP) is the nearest railway station from Manipal (3 kms away). Mangaluru central and Mangaluru Junction are the other railway stations (65 Kms away) that may be opted for, as most important trains in the region, have stops here.

By Air:

Mangaluru International Airport (IXE) is the nearest airport. There are regular flights to Mangalore from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi. Besides. Pre-paid taxi facility at Mangalore airport makes onward journey easy and convenient to travel by road to Manipal.

Weather

The weather is tropical and is hot with high levels of humidity between November and May. The region receives moderate to heavy rainfall between June and October and the temperatures. Enjoy Manipal’s pleasant November weather—warm days, cool evenings, and perfect conditions to explore beaches, nature, and culture.

Food

The food courts at Manipal serve a variety of cuisines like North Indian, South Indian, Chinese, Caribbean and Malaysian, plus wraps, burgers, pizzas and pasta to cater to the multi-cultural student population. Apart from the food courts, the Manipal town offers an array of restaurants with cuisines catering to the diverse student population.
